Keynote speakers
"Lean transformation of the global construction industry"
Prof. Dr. Glenn BALLARD
Director, Project Productions Systems Laboratory
Glenn Ballard has been involved in construction since 1980, providing him a deep
understanding of engineering, productivity, and project delivery. Transitioning to
academia in 1989, he became UC Berkeley’s Research Director for Project
Production Systems Laboratory in 2005.
Ballard is the co-founder of various institutes, including the International Group for
Lean Construction (1993), the Lean Construction Institute (1997), Project Production
Systems Laboratory (2005), and Lean in the Public Sector (2007). His significant
contributions include the development of the Last Planner System and Target Value
Delivery, fundamental methods in Lean construction, that he continuously refines.
In 2021, he co-authored the new process repository for the Last Planner System.
Currently, he leads research groups focused on enhancing methods for Target Value
Delivery, particularly in conceptual estimating and utilizing trade-off curves to
harmonize diverse stakeholder requirements.
"Can we predict the future of a project based on lean indicators to build a better future?"
