Gala Dinner

The Gantois Hospice is an old hospice. It was founded in 1462 by Jean de Le Cambe, known as ‘Gantois’, an alderman of Lille and a bourgeois who had made his fortune in the alabaster trade. The hospice was used to care for the poor. Gradually, from the 18th to the 20th century, the hospice became a real hospital.
It has been a listed building since 1923.
The building still has a hospital ward and a chapel where you can admire a Stations of the Cross from the 15th century. The hospice has a chaplain’s house (to the left of the chapel) and a reception centre; the chapel has a special altar. There are also the remains of a fresco depicting Saint Piat and a Cephalophorus holding his skull in his hands.
Today, visitors can also admire the great hall, the library and the cloister, all of which have retained their original charm.
